Dwarf Sagittaria / 'Sagittaria subulata' is part of the Sagittaria plant genus. They are small, green, grass-like plants found in fresh and brackish water estuaries in South America.
In the aquarium, Dwarf Sagittaria is commonly used as an undemanding carpeting or foreground plant. This plant does best when planted directly into the substrate and can be easily propagated by new plantlets and lateral runners.
Dwarf Sagittaria is adored because of its low maintenance grass-like appearance and carpeting growth pattern used to create a lush underwater lawn. Under high intensity light and nutrients, it will grow more compact and create a thick carpet of plants in the foreground. This plant is easy to care for and requires medium light and moderate fertilization and CO2 supplementation for the best growth and color. Dwarf Sagittaria is ideal for all sizes of aquariums and does well in a variety of water conditions!
This plant is a medium to fast grower and may require frequent trimming and pruning to keep it in its best shape.
